Searching for a getaway and experience that is just a little-bit special? Visit Bamfield Lodge in the "Venice of North America."
Serving the beautiful Barkley Sound area for over 30 years, Bamfield Lodge offers you two ways to enjoy your special getaway.
You can have:
All guests are welcome to relax in our Boardwalk Bistro
A boardwalk starts with us and runs along Bamfield Inlet. Sightings of bald eagles, blue herons, kingfishers, cormorants, crows, ravens, gulls, loons and a variety of other birds and ducks are common. Otters, seals, sea lions, sea stars, and occasionally a whale can also be seen from the boardwalk, as well as residential flower gardens and boat traffic on the waterway "our main street."
The beaches have many tidal pools to explore, and interpretation with a trained Biologist can be arranged as well as tours of our local Marine Biological Research Centre, Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre.
Barkley Sound is home to many species of seaweed's which are harvested and sold here. Oysters, clams, shrimp, prawns, crabs and mussels abound and go very nicely with a fresh caught salmon, halibut, ling cod or red snapper.
The Broken Group Islands are a very popular kayaking area. Brady's beach is just a 20 minute walk from us; a beautiful sandy beach, many tide pools and sunset heaven. There are other beaches within walking distance as well as trails, including the famous "West Coast Trail."
